SSWUG Fall 2009 Virtual Conference Plan

So the SSWUG Fall 2009 Virtual Conference begins today. I’ve setup at home to hibernate for hours watching the live and pre-recorded sessions on a wide range of SQL Server and business intelligence topics. An extra LCD monitor brought home, the trackball mouse from the office, headphones and webcam. The kitchen is stocked for my “conference” meals and snacks thanks to my lovely bride. I am ready!

Oh yeah, the sessions. I almost forgot. ;)

Windows 7 and the Dreaded Temp Profile

windows7Phew. For someone who’s corporate OS deployment experience has purposefully not included Vista, Windows 7 poses some challenges and a need to re-learn some things. Recently, one of our users brought us their machine that they recently had the hard drive replaced by a helpful soul. Unfortunately, the helpful soul returned the machine with Windows 7 RC rather than Windows XP Professional and our user has been using it for several weeks already. (Yes, I know this is not really the type of work I do, but hey, when folks are out of the office in a small organization, everyone pitches in.)

FTP SSL/TLS Negotiation Failed

I find myself in a bit of a pickle. Recently, we’ve started having users have problems connecting to our Gene6 FTP server via FTP explicit SSL/TLS using FileZilla clients. Now for almost 2 years, this has been working fine. I’ve spent most of the day looking at the FileZilla and Gene6 forums without a concrete solution.

Linode Setup – Domain Email Forwarding
