Well…funny enough, as part of another project I am temporarily now using a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.6.8. Like most things, I’ve got to use it for an extended period of time in order to really understand pro’s and cons. Its been 2 weeks and I must say I’ve found lots to love and only a few things that I don’t like. Sounds like some more blog articles should be coming out of this experiment.

Great article! Please expand with more useful applications. I realy like Ubuntu 11.10.

I am using most of Google applications and would like to use them like on my smartphone.

Please let me knowif you find application that completely integrates with Google (like on Android).

Best way to get Ubuntu-like performance with support for your standard MS Office and web conferencing apps is to go with Mac OS X. Read my Swift PC blog for some background on how I have arrived at that conclusion. I’ve been a loyal Windows user since the Windows 3.1 days, but have transitioned in the past couple of years primarily because it is no longer providing appropriate “bang for the buck.”

Give OS X a shot and I’ll bet that you’ll find you are able to have the best of all worlds that are important to you. Humorously, I was unable to bypass the Captcha check on your blog using Firefox in Ubuntu, so I am finally submitting this post via Safari on OS X.

Thank you so much. This page saved me from a fresh install.

I installed an nVidia driver from their website and it apparently failed. I looked hours and hours for a solution. I got most of it from here. It was XServer’s fault.

Thank you.This worked on my inspiron 1501 running Ubuntu 11.04 though I had to deactivate the wireless driver installed and restart after the terminal commands.Cheers!
